On Wednesday, the 11th of December, the pupils of 4th, 5th & 6th classes presented a wonderful Christmas Carol Service of music and singing in Irremore church.

surprised all the pupils with Easter Eggs to celebrate the fantastic achievement
of the U-11 quiz team being runners-up in the National Final in the RDS on 7th April.

Congratulations to the U-11 Credit Union quiz team who competed in the National Final in the RDS on Sunday 7th April. Out of 47 teams, they finished runners-up and we are all so proud of their fantastic achievement. The four team members are Cara, Marcos, Ronan & Joseph.

As we are celebrating 140 years of the existence of Dromclough NS (1877-2017) we are kindly requesting from the community any old school photos which will be included in a display at the school. The photos will be copied and then the originals returned to the owners.

The pupils and staff of Dromclough NS were delighted to welcome Killian Young to the school recently. Killian presented a cheque for €1,000 from the Bank of Ireland Give Together Fund. This was organised by parent Brigetta Culhane.

Peace Proms 2014 - Killarney
Pupils from 4th, 5th & 6th classes sang at the Peace Proms Concert in the INEC on Sunday 9th February 2014. They performed eight songs altogether, including Dance Evolution, Superhits, World In Union, One World In Harmony and the ever popular Muppets Medley.
This is our third successive year taking part in the Peace Proms Concert. All the pupils loved the unique opportunity of performing with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, under the baton of Mr Gearóid Grant. There was a memorable event at the end of the concert when our pupils proudly hoisted the school banner as Minister for Arts, Heritage & the Gaeltacht, Mr Jimmy Deenihan said he was delighted that pupils from his alma mater Dromclough NS were present in the Peace Proms choir. |

Pupils from 4th class, took part in the Bank of Ireland Start Your Own Business Biz World Initiative for Primary schools last week. The workshops were given by Shane Enright and the Dragons were Brigetta Culhane & Killian Young – all from BOI.
Following facing the dragons at the BizWorld Workshops, the 4th class pupils at Dromclough NS were delighted to have a kick-about with their Kerry heroes Shane Enright and Killian Young. 2nd class pupils from Dromclough who made their First Holy Communion in Irremore Church on Sat. 21st May, with their teacher, Mrs. Foran.

7th February 2014 - ‘Me, Mollser’
5th & 6th class pupils had the unique experience of attending the Abbey Theatre production of ‘Me, Mollser’ in Siamsa Tíre. This drama is based on the character of ‘Mollser’, a fifteen year old who appears in The Plough and the Stars by Sean O’Casey. ‘Mollser’ lived in the Dublin tenements of 1915 and suffered from TB. ‘Mollser’ interacted with the pupils on stage and they gained an invaluable historical and social insight into life in Dublin at that time, post-1913 Lock Out and pre-1916 Easter Rising. |

Dromclough N.S. 5th/6th class relay team who won bronze on sat 26th may 2012 in the 4*100 metre relay in the Kerry primary school sports in An Riocht track in Castleisland. The team from left to right are: Paraic Shanahan, Eamon Shanahan, Sean Galvin & Damian Larkin. Also on the team was Donal Hunt (not in picture). And also Megan Lynch in 1st class - unfortunately no picture - won a bronze medal in the 60m sprint.

A fine Day at Dromclough National School
The pupils making full use of the excellent facilities during the recent fine weather. We are very lucky to have a 2.5 acre field with 3 pitches at the back of the school, along with the ball court and concrete yard.
School Trip 3rd & 4th Class
Dromclough NS 3rd & 4th class school tour to County Clare last Thurs and Fri. Pupils visited Bunratty, Craggaunowen, The Burren and the Michael Cusack Centre in Carron. There was also some leisure time in Ennis for bowling. A great time was had by all!

First Class wins prize in Dublin for the Seat Belt Sherriff Competition
Dromclough National School first class at the prize-giving in Dublin Castle for the Seat Belt Sherriff Competition. last week. The students received €500 for the school, a celebratory lunch, a variety of gifts and a trip to the Zoo.
Dromclough NS participates in Peace Proms 2012 choir with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland
Dromclough National School students from 3rd and 4th class were part of the 600 strong Peace Proms 2012 choir at the INEC in Killarney on Sunday February 12th. The choir together with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland presented a fantastic two and a half hour show in the INEC to hundreds of visitors .

the Young Scientist Exhibition in Dublin
last Fri. 13th Jan, 2012 where they took part in the Primary Science Fair.
Their project was: “Wind as a Force of Destruction and a Source of Energy”. The completion of the
project, under the direction of class teacher Mrs. K. Trench, was a big
undertaking but the pupils benefitted considerably from using their
investigative skills, conducting various experiments and from the knowledge
they accumulated.

TD, visited his alma mater, Dromclough NS, on Friday 16th December 2012 to present the medals to the
school’s GAA football team and panel. The Dromclough National School team won the North Kerry Final
of Cumann na mBunscoil this year.
