Halloween
Pupils from Junior Infants up to 6th class dressed up for the annual Halloween fun on the Friday of the midterm break. Each class looked spookily fantastic... or should we say fantastically spooky!
All the boys and girls were delighted to show off their colourful and creative costumes as we paraded around the school hall.
The Active School Committee assembled a range of fun, innovative and energetic activities to mark this most popular day in the school calendar. Pupils competed in events such as pumpkin ring toss, hungry hungry ghosts, pumpkin bowling, spooky keepy uppies, spider web walk and, for the tech-savvy students, Halloween QR code hunt. There was great excitement in the hall throughout the day as classes happily completed each event.

Cumann na mBunscol 15-a-side Football
Our boys footballers were our first sports team in action this year as they took part in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol competition. Dromclough competed in a group of four schools in the North section of 8/9 teacher category. Impressive wins against O' Brennan N.S. (home) and Ardfert N.S. (away) put us in good shape but a disappointing defeat away to Scoil Íosagain, Ballybunion in round 3 rocked our players. This meant we finished second in the group and would have only a few days break before travelling again for a quarter-final vs Gaelscoil Aogáin. The Castleisland outfit had too much for our brave boys who went down on their shield giving everything for the crest. Our panel of players enjoyed their five-weeks of matches and training and look forward to more Cumann na mBunscol events later in the year.
